So-called digital well-being is becoming increasingly important due to the rapid spread of smartphones and the ubiquitous use of digital devices in our society. In this work, we investigate how interface interventions can be used to consciously shape the use of social media. For this purpose, interface designs are developed to encourage users to pause when opening apps and reflect on whether they really want to use the app.
The project examines what digital well-being is and what circumstances promote it. Using the theory of slow and fast thinking, unconscious habits that can stand in the way of healthy decision-making will be highlighted.
In collaboration with the app one sec and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, a study will be conducted to investigate the effects of budgeting screen time.
